{"id":1158,"date":"2020-09-11T16:36:06","date_gmt":"2020-09-11T20:36:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thomastedwards.com\/wordpress\/?page_id=1158"},"modified":"2020-12-18T11:16:15","modified_gmt":"2020-12-18T16:16:15","slug":"the-steps-that-lead-to-eternal-salvation","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/thomastedwards.com\/wordpress\/index.php\/the-steps-that-lead-to-eternal-salvation\/","title":{"rendered":"The Steps That Lead to Eternal Salvation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>1) Hear&nbsp;<\/strong>the gospel \u2014 for that is how faith comes (<a href=\"https:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/nasb95\/Rom.%2010.17\">Rom. 10:17<\/a>;&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/nasb95\/John%2020.30-31\">John 20:30-31<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2) Believe<\/strong>&nbsp;in the deity of Jesus Christ (<a href=\"https:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/nasb95\/John%208.24\">John 8:24<\/a>;&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/nasb95\/John%203.18\">John 3:18<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3) Repent&nbsp;<\/strong>of sins.&nbsp; For every accountable person has sinned (<a href=\"https:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/nasb95\/Rom%203.23\">Romans 3:23<\/a>;&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/nasb95\/Rom%203.10\">Romans 3:10<\/a>), which causes one to be spiritually dead (<a href=\"https:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/nasb95\/Eph%202.1\">Ephesians 2:1<\/a>) and separated from God (<a href=\"https:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/nasb95\/Isa%2059.1-2\">Isaiah 59:1-2<\/a>;&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/nasb95\/Rom%206.23\">Romans 6:23<\/a>). Therefore, repentance of sin is necessary (<a href=\"https:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/nasb95\/Luke%2013.5\">Luke 13:5<\/a>;&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/nasb95\/Acts%2017.30\">Acts 17:30<\/a>).&nbsp; For whether the sin seems great or small, there will still be the same penalty for either (<a href=\"https:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/nasb95\/Matt.%2012.36-37\">Matt. 12:36-37<\/a>;&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/nasb95\/2%20Cor.%205.10\">2 Cor. 5:10<\/a>) \u2014 and even for a lie (<a href=\"https:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/nasb95\/Rev.%2021.8\">Rev. 21:8<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>4) Confess faith<\/strong>&nbsp;in Christ (<a href=\"https:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/nasb95\/Rom.%2010.9-10\">Rom. 10:9-10<\/a>;&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/nasb95\/Acts%208.36-38\">Acts 8:36-38<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>5) Be baptized<\/strong>&nbsp;in water for the remission of sins (<a href=\"https:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/nasb95\/Mark%2016.16\">Mark 16:16<\/a>;&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/nasb95\/Acts%202.38\">Acts 2:38<\/a>;&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/nasb95\/Acts%2022.16\">22:16<\/a>;&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/nasb95\/1%20Pet.%203.21\">1 Pet. 3:21<\/a>).&nbsp; This is the final step that puts one into Christ (<a href=\"https:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/nasb95\/Gal.%203.26-27\">Gal. 3:26-27<\/a>).&nbsp; For from that baptism, one is then raised as a new creature (<a href=\"https:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/nasb95\/2%20Cor.%205.17\">2 Cor. 5:17<\/a>), having all sins forgiven and beginning a new life as a Christian (<a href=\"https:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/nasb95\/Rom.%206.3-4\">Rom. 6:3-4<\/a>). For the one being baptized does so \u201cthrough faith in the working of God\u201d (<a href=\"https:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/nasb95\/Col.%202.12\">Col. 2:12<\/a>). In other words, believing that God will keep His word and forgive after one submits to these necessary steps.
